Ms. Schottland brings almost twenty years of legal practice throughout McHenry, Boone, Winnebago, Cook and Kane Counties to Zanck, Coen, Wright & Saladin, P.C. She has substantial trial and motion practice and hearing experience, including trials before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Her area of focus is general Civil Litigation, including Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury. She is also an adjunct Professor at McHenry County College currently teaching Business Law and is certified as a judge for municipal administrative proceedings.

Ms. Schottland graduated from University of Illinois as a Chancellor’s Scholar with an undergraduate degree in Economics. While an undergraduate, she studied abroad at the Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile, the city where her mother was born. She then received her juris doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude, where she was also a Lincoln’s Scholar and received a foreign language fellowship.

Ms. Schottland is an active community participant. She currently serves in an elected capacity as Trustee for the Round Lake Area Public Library. She represents Unit 3 Lake and McHenry County on the Extension State Advisory Council for the University of Illinois Extension and also supports Extension through her service on the Lake County Extension Foundation where she is currently vice-president. Additionally, Ms. Schottland volunteers as an educator with the Lake County Forest Preserve and as program coordinator for the Round Lake Area Garden Club and Food Forest. Further, Ms. Schottland volunteers with the Chicago Botanic Garden, primarily at the Buehler Enabling Garden. She recently termed off of the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation for McHenry County, having served nine years from approximately 2008-2017 and serving as vice-chair of the board of directors and the chair of the governance committee in her final two years. Ms. Schottland continues her service with the Community Foundation for McHenry County through the Emeritus Board. She has also served as vice-president of the Criminal Law Section and Criminal Law Liaison for the Board of Governors for the McHenry County Bar Association, volunteered with the Schuler Scholar Program, and Mano a Mano, where she served in 2016-1028 as co-chair of the Gala Committee. Ms. Schottland has also been honored as a 2012 recipient of Best Under 40 in McHenry County and amongst McHenry County’s Leading Ladies in 2010.

Though born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, she has been an almost life-long resident of Illinois. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. Ms. Schottland is married to attorney Bruce Schottland of Harter & Schottland, and they live in Round Lake, Illinois.
